about

The sixth Dracula's Necrophobic Actions album. Recorded by Joséphine Paquette on a DP-008 eight-track digital recorder. She also insisted on producing this. What an egomaniac! Pumpkins?" was recorded onto a computer directly. Certain parts of "All Souls" were recorded on an MP3 player. Many of the tracks in the first half were recorded around the same time as some songs from Credenza Sorcery. The guitar solo on Track 9 was done by Gabe Bradshaw.

Here's some big fax about the songs of the album:

Ghost Notes - If you listen to the keyboard tracks to this song you may notice that there is a completely unfair amount of effects used (this is one of the reasons the guitar & bass don't have any) including the keyboard's built-in reverb, a pitch shifter pedal, delay, more reverb, phaser or maybe distortion, and then another reverb, and maybe something else... it sounds very EXPERIMENTAL and fills up much of the "sound space" of the song as well as the merciless ride cymbal. The autoharp was not only out of tune, but many of the dampeners were broken so I couldn’t single out a chord... I ended up improvising and playing it like a hammer dulcimer.

The Disco in the Night Time - This song originally had a vocal part written, but that never ended up happening. Even if it had I doubt it would've worked because the farthest thing on this album from an instrumental is "All Souls" for crying out loud.

Sneezin' Up a Storm - This has a heavy Frank Zappa influence (even though it's primarily fake latin jazz).

I'm a Capitalist Stooge - The main inspirations were Guided By Voices and Frank Zappa (again) even though it doesn’t sound like either of them. The only song I’ve done with only acoustic guitars... the part that sounds like electric guitar is actually a bass. This song was originally a punk song.... the only connection is the title.

29 Hours of Sleep - This song featured stream-of-consciousness whispering that started out as me repeating the song title until I got bored and started making a bunch of jokes and sarcastic remarks. It also has a phone message left by someone who got the wrong number...

Peace Corpse - If "reverbcore" is a genre, this would probably fall into that category.

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely - Thanks to Gabe for the guitar solo on this song. Some of the stuff in the left channel that sounds like a keyboard is just a guitar and some of the left channel Cure-guitar sounding stuff is actually bass. The ending contains tracks and/or excerpts of at least fifteen different songs in D Minor, some may be recognizable, some sound very strange, even to me.

Can't Djent - 7/8 is a cool enough time signature that it almost helps you forget that the drums have been shamelessly recycled from Dinasaurs Inside My Encephalon.

A New Nothing - During one of the sections of this song there are bits of guitar and bass parts from four other songs. This song (as well as Peace Corpse and I'm a Capitalist Stooge) contains a strange yet interesting artificial feedbacking effect.
